Colorado Green
Located twenty miles south of the town of Lamar, the Colorado Green wind farm is a 162-MW project. It was developed and built by GE Wind Energy using 108 1.5 MW wind turbines. At beginning of construction in 2003, Colorado Green was the largest wind power project in the state of Colorado and the fifth largest wind farm in the world, but has since been surpassed.
Lamar Wind Energy Project
The Lamar Wind Energy Project is the collaboration of two smaller wind efforts. It consists of 4.5 MW of energy by Lamar Light & Power, in addition to 1.5 MW from the Arkansas River Power Authority making a total of 4 wind turbines. It was all built in 2004 and is owned by GE Energy.
Peetz
Upon completion in August of 2007, Peetz became the nation's second largest wind farm, after the Horse Hollow Wind Energy Center located in Texas. Peetz is a 400 MW power station that generates enough electricity to power nearly 120,000 homes using 267 GE wind turbines.
Ponnequin
Ponnequin was the first commercial wind farm build in the state of Colorado. It was first constructed in 1999 with 29 wind turbines, but was soon expanded with an additional 15 turbines in 2001. Upon completion, the farm now has a total power capacity of 30 MW from its total of 44 wind turbines.
Spring Canyon
Spring Canyon wind farm has a total of 40 turbines, manufactured by GE Energy, that produce 1.5 MW each. The wind farm as a whole has a power capacity of 60 MW and was developed in 2006 by Invenergy Wind.
